KARACHI, May 1: All opposition parties, including the Pakistan Peoples’ Party, should launch a decisive movement against the dictatorship as it is the need of the hour.

This was observed by the chief of Jamaat-i-Islami, Sindh chapter, Maulana Asadullah Bhutto, while speaking at a party meeting here at the Qaba Auditorium.

Maulana Bhutto, who is also a member of the National Assembly, stressing the need for adopting joint strategy by all opposition parties pointed out that Pakistan after playing the so-called role of a frontline state against terrorism was itself in the grip of terrorism.

He announced that protest would be observed on Wednesday throughout Sindh including Karachi to express solidarity with the Chief Justice of Pakistan and for the independence of the judiciary.

The JI leader said that the country was passing through a crucial period as after the destruction of all important national institutions the judiciary, which was last the hope for the oppressed people, was also being attempted to win over by the government.

He pointed out that when the CJP himself was seeking justice, then how could a common man expect to get justice? The MMA leader said that unemployment, lawlessness, price hike and tribal clashes had made citizens’ lives miserable.

The JI leader said that the deterioration of the law and order could be assessed from the situation that even ministers were not secured from the terrorists.

He said that Pakistan was an Islamic democratic and welfare state where demand for enforcement of Quran and Sunnah was not only an old desire of the people but also the requirement of the Constitution.

Maulana Bhutto said that Islam was the religion of peace where there was no provision for terrorism. He announced that his party would fully participate in the coming elections from the platform of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal.

Earlier, the meeting reviewed the political situation in the province and considered the organisational matters including the names of candidates for the national and provincial assemblies and decided to hold a convention of the expected candidates and nazims on May 26 at the Qaba Auditorium.
