LAHORE, April 30: Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) on Monday said it has decided to have paid chairman and members of the selection committee, although it has yet to finalise the financial terms and conditions.

The PHF secretary Khalid Mahmood said newly-appointed chief selector Khawaja Zakauddin and the selectors, Abdul Rashid and Samiullah would be paid for their job.

He said PHF had struck a sponsorship deal with National Bank of Pakistan according to which the bank would provide Rs20 million annually.

"The amount is less as PHF needs around Rs100 million annually to meet all expenditures. The PHF has planned to have paid selectors, coaches, and other technical people for which huge money is needed,” Khalid told reporters.

PHF has already decided to have paid senior and junior team officials.

The PHF official said he would not tolerate grouping in the team and had made a strategy to encounter this trend.

"We are taking the tour as experiment and it will help us prepare future strategy,” the Olympian said while referring to May 5 to 15 Azlan Shah Cup in Malaysia.

He said the PHF did not receive any reservations from Australia about their participation Lahore’s Champions Trophy in December.

"I think the Australians will feature in Champions Trophy as FIH delegates who recently toured Pakistan were hopeful for Australians’ participation," he said and added Pakistan under-21 team would also tour Germany and Singapore this year.
