QUETTA, April 30: The Balochistan High Court granted bail to Nawab Aslam Raisani, PPP’s parliamentary leader in the provincial assembly.

The court was hearing a constitutional petition filed by him, requesting to quash his name from the case.

The petitioner contended that the court had quashed Amanullah Kanrani’s name from the FIR lodged by police on April 2, 2006.

The FIR also included the names of Sardar Akhtar Mengal, Sajid Tareen and Habib Jalib president, vice-president and secretary of the Balochistan National Party (Mengal), respectively, while Mr Tareen and Mr Jalib were still being tried in the anti-terrorism court.

The division bench, comprising Chief Justice Amanullah Khan Yasinzai and Justice Akhtar Zaman Malghani, on Monday served a notice on the government during the hearing.

In another case, the court allowed a lawyer, Sakhi Sultan, to file a constitutional petition again if he felt it was necessary in challenging the Supreme Judicial Council’s composition in the presidential reference against the Supreme Court Chief Justice.
