Collective marriage planned

KARACHI, April 30: The Pasban organisation announced on Monday holding a ceremony for collective marriages of 200 couples in Thatta on May 13.

Altaf Shakoor and Rafique Ahmed Khaskheli, president and general secretary, respectively, of the organization said in a statement that similar ceremony of collective marriages would be held in Hyderabad for which the date would soon be announced.

They held a meeting with a Pasban delegation from Thatta headed by Ahsan Jakhro and Asgher Brohi to finalise the arrangements.

The Pasban had earlier arranged collective marriages of 73 couples in Thana Bolakhan and 200 in Badin. The Pasban leaders said their organisation was working for the poor and waging a struggle against dowry.—PPI
