Rape victims record statements

JHELUM, April 30: Two sisters, who took refuge in Jamia Hafsa in Islamabad after allegedly having been assaulted in Jhelum, recorded their statements with the court of Judicial Magistrate Mumtaz Tarar here on Monday.

Accompanied by their parents and an assistant of Lal Masjid’s cleric Abdul Rasheed Ghazi, the girls were taken to Jhelum under police guard, sources said. After giving their statements, the victims returned to Islamabad with the same assistant. The Jhelum police had registered a case after the issue was taken up by the Jamia Hafsa administration, and the two accused were arrested on rape charges.—Correspondent
