Karachi Port operations

KARACHI, April 24: The berthing activity at the Karachi Port is expected to gather fresh momentum as 10 ships carrying containers and to load cement and naphtha are due to arrive on Wednesday.

According to KPT sources only three ships, Wan Hai-303, Sinar Bali to unload and load containers and Swat to offload crude oil were berthed after the departure of five.

The ships, which departed, include Aka Bhum, Wadi al-Rayan, Lalazar, Ever Gonern and Orient Independence, while Wan Hai-303, Haje Khereh, Lady Sama, Nova Sea, Chi Feng Kou, Nydan and Swat are due to sail out on Wednesday.

A total tonnage of 80,737 tons comprising 34,990 tons of export cargo, including 3,658 tons of rice, 5,999 tons of cement and 812 tons clinker and 45,747 tons of import was handled.

The following ships are due on Wednesday: Aboudi, to load 3,000 tons of cement, Sitavera, to load 35,000 tons of naphtha, Shalamar and Johar, with crude oil, Hayley Nadhi, Hyundai Stride, Y.M.Star, Global Prince, Calvin P. Titus, and Iran Hesabi, with containers.
