HYDERABAD: SU to offer degree course in music

HYDERABAD, April 20: The University of Sindh has decided to establish music chair under the Institute of Sindhology and offer degree classes in music.

A meeting held on Friday under the chairmanship of the university’s Vice Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui decided to finalise a plan to set up the music chair within 15 days. After its approval from the competent forums, it will be placed before the university’s Academic Council meeting.

As Sindhology Institute is the capital and custodian of cultural heritage therefore music chair would be set up under its umbrella, observed the participants of the meeting. It also decided to offer music course at the level of a Bachelor’s degree programme under the Faculty of Arts.

The entire plan will be discussed with Dr N. A. Baloch soon who had originally floated the idea.

The meeting was attended by the university Registrar Mohammad Saleh Rajar, Institute of Sindhology Director Shoukat Hussain Shoro and singers Zulfiqar Ali and Mazhar Hussain.

The meeting noted that though Allama I.I. Kazi Chair had been set up in the University, funds for it had not yet been released.

It was noted that the Allama Ghulam Mustafa Qasmi Chair was set up with the help of Siddiqui Foundation which sponsored Rs0.25 million every year.

LAW DEGREES: The University of Sindh has announced that it has handed over degrees of law graduates to its affiliated colleges.

The degrees were handed over by Vice-Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui to the principals of law colleges.

Those candidates who had appeared in the annual examination 2005 were asked to collect their degrees from the concerned colleges.

RESULTS: The Controller of Examinations, University of Sindh, has announced results of third professional MBBS annual examination 2006 of Mohammadi Medical College, Mirpurkhas.

According to the announcement, candidates having seat numbers 1, 3, 4, 6, 9, 10, 12, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 and 30 are declared successful.
