Bomb kills four in Afghanistan
KANDAHAR, April 17: Two Afghans and two foreigners were killed when a roadside bomb blast ripped through a United Nations vehicle in the southern city of Kandahar, police said on Tuesday.
“Two Afghans and two foreigners were killed in this explosion,” said Sayed Agha, a police officer at the scene of the attack in Kandahar city, adding that initial details indicated the foreigners were Nepalese.
UN spokesman Aleem Siddique said there was a “roadside bomb explosion against a UN convoy which was going to its base in Kandahar” but had no details of casualties.
Kandahar is the birthplace of the fundamentalist Taliban movement that was has waged an increasingly fierce insurgency against foreign and government troops and aid workers since being ousted in 2001.
