HANNOVER MESSE, (Germany), April 17: Commercial consuls from six European missions visited Pakistan Pavilion at the Europe’s biggest industrial fair here on Tuesday.
Before their visit to all the 70 Pakistani stands established in four halls of the fair, the consuls were given a briefing about the present situation regarding the country’s negligible share of $540 million in the $4.8 trillion global trade in engineering goods.
They were also told about the policies the Engineering Development Board (EDB), the organiser of Pakistan's participation in the fair, was following to enhance engineering goods export and secure sub-contracting from international companies for local manufacturers and the expectations being pinned on the missions abroad.
They were also requested to go round pavilions of some other countries too, especially of India, to compare Pakistani manufacturers with them and the progress made during the recent past.
The consuls were Wahid Khursheed Kunwar from Turkey (this year’s partner country in the Hannover fair), Amir Khan from The Netherlands, Jehanzeb Khan from France, Saira Najeeb Ahmad from the UK, Azra Mujtaba from Italy and Feroze Junejo and Viqar Khilji from Frankfurt and Berlin Germany, respectively.
