ISLAMABAD, April 16: The commerce ministry has clarified that elections of trade organisations under the new Trade Ordinance will be held within a period of 90 days. An official announcement issued here on Monday said that the elections are scheduled to be completed within a period starting from July 1 to September 30, 2007 without any delay.

Under the Ordinance, all the existing trade organisations are required to apply for a fresh license under the new law by the extended date of May 15, 2007. There has been no further extension in the date of filing applications.

The commerce ministry will decide on these applications till June 30, 2007 so that election process of the trade organisations can be commenced as per scheduled, added the announcement.
