KARACHI: Power crisis: Karachi, rural Sindh in same boat
KARACHI, April 15: The situation in Karachi and interior of Sindh is almost the same, as prolonged power breakdowns have become the order of the day across the province.
According to reports reaching here, Nawabshah and its adjoining areas, which get power supply from two grid stations, plunged into darkness for hours last night causing much hardship to residents who are already hard hit by the hot weather.
The power supply resumed late at night after some hours but continued to be interrupted intermittently.
Local WAPDA complaint centre said that the whole of the town was without electricity.
Same reports were received from Mirpur Khas where the town and adjoining areas of Mirwah, Jhudo, Digri, Umerkot Naukot, Roshanabad, Kot Ghulam Muhammad and other towns remained without power for over six hours between Saturday and Sunday night.
It is said the breakdown was caused due to a fault in high tension lines supplying electricity from Hyderabad.
A report from Kot Ghulam Muhammad said that the town and adjoining seven union councils were without power since 7pm Saturday till 12 noon on Sunday.
The power shutdown also caused suspension of water supply.
Same reports were received from Moro and other towns of Naushehro Feroze district.
