ISLAMABAD, April 14: Pakistan will seek early legislation on Reconstruction Opportunity Zones (ROZs) by the US Congress besides finalisation of the much-awaited Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) between the two countries.

A senior official told Dawn on Saturday that these issues among others would be raised during the meeting of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) Ms Susan Schwab with Pakistani Commerce Minister Humayun Akhtar Khan on Sunday in Lahore.

The US trade representative is coming to Lahore from India one-day ahead of the Cairns Ministerial Conference for holding a bilateral meeting with her Pakistani counterpart on bilateral issues.Besides, WTO bilateral issues like establishment of ROZs in the pro-Taliban areas, holding of next meeting on BIT and intellectual property rights would also come under discussion.

According to the official the US has also started a special review of the Pakistan IPR regime. It is expected that the US may again place Pakistan on special watch list. Decision in this regard is expected any time, added the official.
