Mob thrash policemen

ISLAMABAD, April 12: An angry mob thrashed police personnel on Wednesday when they raided a gambling den in the jurisdiction of Golra police station. Sources said policemen under the supervision of sub- inspector raided a house near Golra Shrine where they claimed gambling was going on. When they entered the house people present there offered resistance and forced the police to leave the place, and the alleged gamblers managed to escape.

In the meantime, people from nearby area, who gathered there, had a scuffle with the police when the uniformed personnel manhandled them and used obscene language.

The angry mob thrashed the police personnel and also tore the uniform of some police officials. As a result the police officials suffered minor injuries, and the police party had to resort to firing in the air to disperse the mob.

The police have registered a case in Golra police station against the mob.—Staff Reporter
