KARACHI: Probe into Parachinar killings demanded

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, April 12: The All Pakistan Shia Action Committee (APSAC) on Thursday demanded a high-level judicial probe into the Parachinar riots.

Speaking at a press conference at the Karachi Press Club, the APSAC leaders Allama Mirza Yusuf Hussain, Allama Ghulam Ali Waziri, Ali Naqvi and others demanded that the people involved in the killings be arrested, tried and punished according to law immediately.

They warned the government that if steps were not taken to stop these attacks, they would launch a countrywide protest movement, which would start by holding demonstrations at mosques on Friday.

The speakers also demanded that the biased political agent of Parachinar be sacked and notice be taken of the biased attitude of the NWFP government and the governor.

They claimed that Al-Qaeda and Taliban militants were also reportedly coming to Parachinar in large number which could further aggravate the situation.

ISO DEMO: Activists of the Imamia Students Organisation (ISO) staged a protest demonstration in front of the Karachi Press Club against the killings in Parachinar.

Speaking at the demonstration, Allama Aftab Haider Jaffery and others condemned the government for leaving the innocent people of Parachinar at the mercy of the local as well as foreign Taliban.
