KARACHI: 19 projects at KU under way


KARACHI, April 9: The University of Karachi is endeavouring for the uplift of faculty, capacity building and provision of infrastructure. In this connection, 19 development projects worth Rs1 billion are under way at the KU, said KU vice-chancellor Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui.

He was speaking as chief guest at the award distribution ceremony of the Statistics Alumni of University of Karachi (SAKU).

One of these projects, Umair Basha Institute is complete and will be inaugurated within this month, he informed.

Dr Pirzada said that in this era of globalisation, access to modern disciplines had made things brighter for talented and intelligent students to make rapid headway.

He said that in the new academic culture, teachers could play a vital role in the dissemination of knowledge as well as research activities. He also gave away gold medals to the position holders of the department belonging to the years 2004, 2005 and 2006.—APP
