HYDERABAD, April 8: Two activists of Mohajir Qaumi Movement (MQM) were gunned down in what appeared to be targeted killing within the jurisdiction of Sakhi Pir police station on Sunday evening, near Pakistan Oil Mills.

They were members of Afaq-led Mohajir Qaumi Movement who had parted ways with the MQM headed by Amir Khan, erstwhile secretary general of the Afaq-led Haqiqi.

The deceased were identified as Sadaqat Hussain, son of Riaz Din alias Taisha, 39, and Ashfaq Ahmed, son of Intikhab Ahmed alias Pappi, 41.

They were living in house no 454, F-area Korangi Karachi-4 and House no 19, Mohallah F-Area Korangi Karachi-4, respectively.

The assailants had pumped several bullets into their bodies and they died on the spot. Their bodies were kept on the road in a pool of blood for more than one hour and were shifted to Civil Hospital mortuary quite late as police officials, who arrived there, preferred to complete the formalities first.

The Taluka Nazim of City, Javed Jabbar, a resident of the same vicinity, rushed to the spot after hearing gunshots.

“I saw both the deceased persons standing in front of Pakistan Oil Mills when two others arrived there on separate motorbike”, said an eye witnesses.

Investigation police recovered NICs of both the activists, one license of a weapon, issued in the name of Riaz Qureshi, central ad-hoc committee member of MQM (Afaq) and in-charge information cell of the city. One cell phone (0300-8548669) and spectacles were recovered by police. The motorcycle (HDV-9219) driven by deceased was also impounded by police.

The photo copy of the license was found on Ashfaq while a cheque for Rs100,000 was also recovered from Sadaqat Hussain.
