KARACHI: Foreigner found dead

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, April 8: A German national was found dead in a hotel room where he had been staying for the last 10 days, police said.

A senior police official said Fritz Walter, 57, a German technician, was staying at a local hotel along Sharea Faisal. He was employed with a German firm and had arrived here to help install a biscuit factory here for his Pakistani client.

He had gone inside his room on Saturday night and could not come out when a company driver arrived to get him. The hotel management called the Ferozabad police, who broke into the room and found him dead.

“We found him dead naked in his room. The room was locked from inside but there was no sign of violence or any marks or bruises on his body were found,” Sultan Khwaja, TPO of Jamshed Town, told Dawn.

He said there was no prima facie evidence that showed any act of crime inside the room. He was a heavy smoker and might have died due to a heart attack, he said.

The police seized his mobile phone and other belongings for further investigation.
