KARACHI: ‘E-policing project to reduce crime’


KARACHI, April 8: Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister for Information Technology Noman Saigal has said that the standard of Sindh E-Policing Project would be at par with the best E-Policing projects of the world and it would help improve performance of police and reduce crime in Sindh.

He said this while talking to media after presiding over a meeting of Steering Committee of E-Policing Project here.

The IT advisor said that private companies, reputable for introducing successful E-Policing projects abroad, had also taken part in the Sindh E-Policing Project, which would be completed soon.

Mr Saigal said that under the first phase of this project, work on computerization of Madadgar-15 centres, FM Radio Police and vehicle tracking system had been started, which would strengthen contacts between police and people, help reduce crime and improve police performance in an innovative way.

Noman Saigal said that the government had planned to exploit modern technology in order to improve public welfare service and performance of its organizations.

The advisor pointed out that Information Technology Department was working on various projects worth Rs3 billion, which include E-Policing, computerization of hospitals and law department offices and video conferencing system between Sindh Secretariat and district governments.—PPI
