QUETTA, April 7: A top militant commander of Bugti tribe, Rahim Bakhsh Shalwani Bugti, was arrested after a raid on his house in village Jamma Khan Laro, near Dera Murad Jamali, on Saturday, police said.

They claimed that Shalwani Bugti was the top commander of late Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti operating in the area.

Police also claimed the arrest of a number of people along with the commander from a house which was allegedly being used as a brothel.

During interrogation, the militant confessed that he was the top commander of Bugti militants, police said.

Meanwhile, Senior Vice President of Balochistan National Party (BNP-M) Mir Jehanzeb Jamaldeni has said that security forces have launched a military operation in some parts of Jhalawan.

Talking to Dawn by telephone on Saturday, he said members of security forces had cordon off the Wada area and started house-to-house search during which they beat innocent people.

He said his party had been expecting a military operation in the Jhalawan area since long as the government had deployed a large number of troops in the area.

He condemned the government action and termed it genocide of the Baloch people.He said the Baloch people won’t be suppressed by such tactics and they would continue their struggle for achieving their just rights.

ARMS SEIZURE: Security forces on Saturday seized a huge quantity of illegal arms and ammunition during a search operation in Wadh Lop area.

Official sources said that a contingent of the Frontier Corps headed by

Colonel Imtiaz-ul Haq on a tip-off moved into the Lop Wadh area and seized arms and ammunition arms placed there in a cave.

The seized weapons and ammunition include 13 bombs, six AK-47 rifles, 31 G-3 rifles, one revolver, a huge quantity of rounds, including magazines and wireless sets.

"Arms and ammunition recovered from the cave was being used for subversive activities in the area," a senior official of the FC said.
