Convocation of 115th PMA long course held


ISLAMABAD, April 7: Convocation ceremony of 115th Long Course was held at Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Abbottabad on Saturday. Rawalpindi Corps Commander Lt-Gen Tariq Majid was the chief guest on the occasion.

Addressing the cadets, he said “Pakistan Military Academy is a distinguished institution with glorious history and rich traditions, where the educational focus, both military and civil has indeed been distinctive and remarkable.”

The holistic curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular combine, affords unique opportunity to experience the richness of its environment, imbued with a vibrant and multidimensional training system that transforms raw talent into dynamic intellect and polished skills, he remarked.

The general said that the key to success in meeting the evolving challenges is to develop the capacity to ‘learn to think’, stay spiritually motivated, have faith in yourself and in your leadership, stand untied and pursue national honour as well as the honour of your uniform with great fidelity.

Earlier, in his welcome address PMA Commandant Maj-Gen Nadeem Taj said that apart from formal academic training, “the academy endeavours to ensure wholesome development cadet’s personalities as an integral part of social and moral fibre of the society, by employing innovative and informal training methods.”

Later, Gen Majid gave away degrees and medals to the graduating cadets.

Battalion Senior Under Officer Usman Mehmood received science medal for being best in academics. He was also awarded with the COAS medal.

Humanities medal went to Company Senior Under Officer Muhammad Waseem Khan whereas Company Senior Under Officer Syed Atif Hussain Shah achieved shooting and physical efficiency medals.

In ladies integrated course-1, Company Under Officer, Wajiha Arshad and Lady Cadet Sadia Saleem attained physical efficiency and shooting medals, respectively.

Saad Company was given professional efficiency trophy for getting first position in training while Salahuddin Company achieved Commandant’s Trophy.—APP
