MIRPURKHAS, April 7: The lining of eight distributaries of Kunri taluka will be undertaken while repair of those at tail-end areas was being carried out to help provide irrigation water to tail-enders of taluka Kunri and Samaro, said the Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim.

He was addressing a gathering of elected representatives and notables at Nabisar cattle farm, district Umerkot on Saturday.

The CM further said a Qatari company was keen on investing in cattle farming sector in Thar area.

He further said a huge amount will be allocated in the next budget for repair and renovation of the government buildings in district headquarters of the province.

He said all government hospitals at taluka and district headquarter level would be made operational on the pattern of hospitals in Karachi. He said work of Makhi Farash canal was nearly complete and will be inaugurated soon. The CM announced that new metallic roads will be constructed in district Umerkot.

On this occasion, advisor to chief minister Jadim Mangrio briefed him about the working of Nabisar cattle Farm.

Later, he visited the proposed 200 acres of land for the construction of new cadet college near Naukot fort. Talking to reporters, he said if the PPP accepts President General Pervez Musharraf in uniform then talks could be held with them. He further said the cases against the PPP leaders and workers will be decided by the courts.

To a question, he said the benevolent fund of government employees has been released by the government. He said the 22-mile long Rann distributary will be lined from village Gullan Ji Mori of taluka Mithi to Kajar of taluka Diplo at a cost of Rs212 million.

He said the Thar cadet college near Naukot fort will be constructed and disclosed that its PC-I of Rs287.3 million has been approved. He further said minorities were enjoying basic rights without any discrimination in the province.—Correspondent
