BADIN: 600 juvenile prisoners in Sindh

BADIN, April 5: Inspector General of Sindh Jails Mohammad Yameen Khan said that jails in the province had at present some 600 juvenile prisoners and the government had made arrangements to equip them with vocational and technical education in order to make them useful members of society.

During a visit to Badin district jail he said that it would be ensured that the hearing of cases against juvenile prisoners was held earlier and they had not problem meeting with their relatives.

He said that a proposal was being considered to set up a separate jail for juvenile prisoners in Badin because underage prisoners could not be shifted out of the district.

The IG also visited an open jail in Berani where he directed officials to take effective steps to cultivate jail’s lands.—PPI
