KARACHI: Secretaries told to listen to elected representatives

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, April 5: All administrative secretaries have been directed by the provincial government to extend full cooperation to public representatives and deal with them in a responsive and responsible manner.

The directive has come following complaints by certain elected representatives about indifferent attitude of provincial secretaries towards them upon being approached in connection with people’s grievances.

The issue had been raised by MNAs from Sindh in the National Assembly through a motion which was referred to the Standing Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges.

The committee sorted out the complaints brought the matter to the notice of the Sindh chief secretary with remarks that secretaries of provincial departments appeared not responsive to the public representatives’ telephone calls and would usually avoid talking to them.

Accordingly, the Services and General Administration Department, Sindh, directed all secretaries to change their attitude and extend full cooperation to public representatives.
