Urs of Faqeer Godirrio begins

KHAIRPUR, March 31: The three- day 134th urs of renowned sufi poet Faqir Ghulam Hyder Godirrio began in Mengho Faqir village, Thari Mirwah taluka on Saturday.

Sajjada Nasheen, Faqir Sikandar inaugurated the urs celebrations by laying floral wreath on the mazar. The sufi faqirs/singers sang poetry of Godirrio Faqir.

Ghulam Hyder Faqir's father Qaimuddin and other ancestors had migrated to Khairpur state from Balochistan during Mir Suhrab Khan Talpur era (1783-1811), the founder of Khairpur state.

Ghulam Hyder Godirrio, poet of Sindhi and Seraiki languages, was contemporary of Sachal Sarmast. He was born in 1800 and died in 1861-62.
