HYDERABAD, March 31: Chairman, Sindh Tarraqi Pasand Party (STP), Dr Qadir Magsi, has condemned resumption of military operation in Balochistan and said that 1971-like situation was being created in Balochistan.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, he said that only land can be occupied through military operation and not the hearts of the people. He said, Baloch people were being pushed against the wall.

He said when the Bengalis had demanded provincial autonomy and equal national rights, they were branded as foreign agents and anti-Pakistan and mercilessly killed.

Dr Magsi said that a similar treatment was being meted out to Baloch people, who were demanding ownership of their own resources.

He wondered why General Pervez Musharraf and his group could not see terrorism under their very noses in Islamabad. He demanded that duplicity in such matters must come to an end adding that the policy of bullet has failed.

NAZIM: The District Nazim of Hyderabad, Kanwar Naveed Jamil, has said that those elements, who were shedding crocodile tears for the welfare of the people, had done nothing when they were in power and added that had they been sincere, funds to the tune of tens of millions of rupees would not have lapsed.

He was speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of government Quresh Middle School at Gahushala on Friday night. Nazim city taluka, Javed Jabbar, EDO works and services Nusrat Parvez Mughal, officials of the district government and a large number of elected representatives were present on the occasion.

He said, the district government was spending billions of rupees on mega projects which will change the entire shape of Hyderabad in due course of time. About the instant school, he said that it was established in 1960 but had remained neglected for all these years.

He said, the present government had decided not only to reconstruct the school but also to upgrade it to cater to the needs of the ever-increasing population of the area.
