KARACHI: Ulema pledge full cooperation for peace


KARACHI, March 31: Ulema belonging to different schools of thought have emphasised upon joint efforts and mutual cooperation on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (Pbuh) and assured of full cooperation in this regard.

In a meeting held at Governor House, the Ulema expressed satisfaction over the directives of Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan and the measures taken by the government.

The meeting was attended by Allama Shah Turabul Haq Qadri, Haji Mohammed Hanif Tayyab, Mufti Munibur Rehman, Maulana Akbar Dars, Maulana Kaukab Noorani and other religious leaders.

Secretary Home Brig (Rtd) Ghulam Mohammed Mohtaram apprised the meeting about the steps taken by police, rangers and administration in connection with Rabiul Awwal.

Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad said that Rabiul Awwal is a month of great blessings for Muslims and all attention is being paid to protect it from mischief.

He said that reports being received are analyzed minutely and every aspect will be addressed.

The governor made it clear that there will be total ban on display of weapons, even if they are licensed ones

On the occasion he handed a list of 28 people injured in last year’s Nishtar Park tragedy for payment of compensation and issued necessary instructions to the Home Department in this regard.

He gave on-the-spot directives on the suggestions put froth by the Ulema.

The meeting was attended by Advisor Home Wasim Akhtar, Advisor Information Salahuddin Hyder, Chief Secretary Shakil Durrani, Principal Secretary Saleem Khan, DG Rangers Maj-Gen Javed Zia, IGP Jehangir Mirza and other officials.

NAIB NAZIM: City Naib Nazim Nasreen Jalil has felicitated the Karachiites on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (Pbuh).

She called on people to demonstrate tolerance and patience, so that a brotherly environment could be developed.

The leaves of personnel of all utility departments, including municipal, have been cancelled, she said adding that CDGK staff would remain on duty on 12 Rabiul Awwal.

Ms Jalil stated that a toll-free emergency centre had also been set up with telephone number 0800-12012.—Agencies
