LAHORE, March 30: President Gen Pervez Musharraf on Friday refused to accept the resignation of Pakistan Cricket Board’s chairman Dr Nasim Ashraf. President Musharraf is the board’s patron-in-chief.

“My resignation was not accepted by the president. Now, my first priority will be to maintain the national team’s discipline and improve its image. I will share my plan of action with the media and the nation tomorrow,” Dr Nasim told this correspondent.

“I was contacted by the President House on telephone, telling me that the president had instructed me to continue as the head of the PCB,” Dr Nasim said.

Reuters adds: PCB spokesman Aamir Bilal said on Friday that the board’s chairman, Nasim Ashraf, had been asked by the president to continue working to rebuild the national side.
