ISLAMABAD, March 30: People's Party Parliamentarians (PPP) Senator and a member of the Senate Committee for Sports Enver Baig has condemned the action of the patron of Pakistan Cricket Board of not accepting the resignation of PCB Chairman Dr Nasim Ashraf after the World Cup debacle.

In a statement here on Friday, the senator said it was a sad day for Pakistan cricket.

Mr Baig alleged that the patron of the PCB, President Gen Pervez Musharraf, had preferred his personal friendship with Dr Nasim over the aspiration and the emotions of the Pakistani people.

The senator said it was amazing that the patron had not felt the anger of the Pakistani cricket fans, and the World Cup debacle was the sole responsibility of the PCB chairman.

He said Dr Nasim had been in the PCB as a member of the ad hoc committee for three years and the chairman for six months, and therefore, could not run away from the responsibilities.

In the absence of the constitution, he said, cricket in Pakistan would never take roots. He said the patron's decision not to accept Dr Nasim’s resignation had shocked the nation and it was a poor sense of judgment.
