JUI (F) holds rally

By Our Correspondent

QUETTA, March 30: The Jamait Ulema-i-Islam (F) on Friday staged a rally to protest against disappearance of innocent people, unlawful suspension of Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry and faulty gas bills to consumers and vowed to continue struggle against the dictatorship.

Activists of the religious party took out a procession from the Jamia Mosque after Friday prayers and staged a public meeting at the Meezan Chowk where MNA Maulana Noor Mohammad, provincial leader of the party, and others addressed participants of the procession.

Speaking on the occasion, Maulana Noor alleged that intelligence agencies were behind the disappearance of political workers and seminary students in the province. He said it was the responsibility of the government and courts to take notice of extra-constitutional actions.

The JUI leader said that the military government had destroyed all institutions and the action against the Chief Justice was part of this government policy.

He said the National Assembly had become a rubber stamp as members of the ruling party endorsed all acts of President Musharraf and this had made all elected institutions subservient to a one-man rule.

He criticised military operations in Balochistan and Waziristan and demanded of the government to withdraw forces from Wana, Dera Bugti and Kohlu.
