KARACHI, March 30: The leaders of the Sindh Government Contractors Association (SGCA) have said that funds were not being provided to the contractors for ongoing construction work on buildings of educational institutions in different areas. They said if the problem was not solved immediately they would be unable to complete the construction work that they had in hand.
The General Secretary SGCA Education Works Association, Syed Ali Syed, said that 80 out of 124 contractors, were facing serious financial crisis due to the non-availability of funds from the government for the last ten months. He said that work on building the scores of primary and middle level schools was in progress in the metropolis which, he said, would be stopped if funds were not provided immediately.
He said that the financial year was about to close and funds were not release as yet. He stressed the need that provision of funds on quarterly basis should be regularised with clearance of all areas.
The SGCA urged the city nazim and Sindh chief minister to redress contractors’ grievances. — A Reporter
