KARACHI, March 29: Sindh's batsmen are facing an uphill task against Punjab after losing three important wickets for only 155 in chasing a mammoth 576-run first innings total from the visitors at close on the second day of the four-day match in the Pentangular Cup cricket tournament at the National Stadium here on Thursday.

Opener Khurram Manzoor (75) led Sindh’s batting charge and will resume the penultimate day's proceedings with skipper Faisal Iqbal who is batting on 12. Sindh’s batsmen dismissed included Faisal Athar (12), Naumanullah (3) and Fawwad Alam (34).

Junaid Zia, Sohail Tanvir and Najaf Shah took one wicket apiece for Punjab.

Earlier yesterday, Punjab, who resumed the day's play on 346-4, declared their innings after losing five more wickets at 576, which included three centuries.

Naved Latif and Sohail Tanvir made 114 and an unbeaten 124 respectively after their skipper Misbah-ul-Haq posted 175.

Seamer Anwar Ali, who took four wickets on the opening day, finished with 6-137 while spinner Tahir Khan (2-170) and pacer Rajesh Ramesh (1-91) were the other wicket-takers for Sindh. —PPI
