HYDERABAD, March 29: The Hyderabad District Bar Association on Thursday cancelled membership of 12 lawyers including adviser to Sindh chief minister Nuzhat Pathan for their participation in what it termed as the “so-called lawyer's convention at the Circuit House Hyderabad”.

The HDBA president said in a press release that he had taken action against the lawyers acted under section 20 of General Clauses Act after making consultations with the bar’s managing committee.

He said that the lawyers including Ms Nuzhat Pathan, Syed Kamran, Owais Shibli, Shoaib Shibli, Muhammad Ilyas, Abdul Sattar, Rahat Bashir, Jehangir Shaikh, Munawar Shah, Rashid Raees, Naseer Leghari and Shahzado Saleem had also been prohibited from entering bar room, district law library and appearing in courts as members of bar.

Secretary HDBA had been directed to submit a reference against them to the Sindh Bar Council seeking cancellation of their Sanads and removal of names from the SBC role. He had also been asked to dispatch the information to all the district and sessions judges in Sindh.—PPI
