KARACHI: Open inquiry demanded

Published March 28, 2007

KARACHI, March 27: Pakistan Bar Council member and PPP Senator Farooq H. Naek has called for an open inquiry into the allegations against Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry.

In a press statement, he also supported the demand of the Supreme Court Bar Association that former prime ministers Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif should be allowed to return like any other citizen of Pakistan.

“Any election held without the participation of the two ex-premiers would be a fraud on the people”, he said.

Sindh Bar Council member Mohammad Aqil Lodhi urged the political parties to call for shutter-down strike on April 3, the date fixed for the hearing of the reference against Justice Iftikhar.

He thanked the joint opposition for their support on March 26 and asked it for its continued support.—Staff Reporter
