Swiss firm to start operations in Pakistan


HONG KONG, March 27: Head of the Credit Swiss Asia Oswald J. Gubel said on Tuesday that his company would soon start operations in Pakistan.

Talking to newsmen after a meeting with Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz here, he said Pakistan had made tremendous progress in economic sector and there was a vast scope for international financial associations to invest in the country.

He said Pakistan has very strong fundamentals in the economic sector which are important for foreign investment.

The Credit Swiss is one of the leading global financial services institutions and its operations in Pakistan will help the country further enhance its economic activities.

The Prime Minister, appreciating the decision of the Credit Swiss to start its operations in Pakistan, said it was a recognition of Pakistan's strong economic growth.

The meeting was also attended by Minister for Privatization Zahid Hamid, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Tariq Azeem Khan and Advisor to the Prime Minister on Finance Dr Salman Shah.—APP
