HYDERABAD, March 26: Lawyers continued their token hunger strike in different parts of Sindh on Monday in protest against the presidential reference against Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, and demanded its withdrawal.
The members of Hyderabad District Bar Association (HDBA) and Sindh Bar Council (SBC) observed token hunger strike outside the civil courts here.
Those who observed strike included chairman SBC's executive committee Fazal Qadir Memon, member SBC Qazi Abdul Sattar, former HDBA president Chaudhry Bashir Gujjar, vice president HDBA Abdul Khaliq Leghari and secretary Noorul Haq Qureshi.
The lawyers also staged a rally on the premises of the court, vowing to continue their protest until the CJP is reinstated.
NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Lawyers in Naushahro Feroze, Moro, Kandiaro and Bhirya continued their protest. Lawyers in Naushahro Feroze, led by the DBA president Arbab Ali Chandio took out a rally from district court to local press club.
KHAIRPUR: Over two dozen lawyers observed token hunger strike outside the session court building. They were led by the DBA president, Shafqat Mahessar, Asadullah Maitlo, Allah Warayo Soomro, Liaquat Shar, Sher Mohammad Shaikh and Nisar Bhambhro. The lawyers boycotted courts after 11am and observed hunger strike till 1pm.
JACOBABAD: Lawyers including Haji Anwar Ali Jakhrani, Ahmed Bux Ansari, Haji Wahid Bux, Misri Khan, Ghulam Rasool, Mohammad Azeem, Fida Hussain Langah, Mohammad Usman Sadhayo and others observed token hunger strike outside the DBA office. They also boycotted court proceedings for an hour.
SHIKARPUR: Lawyers of the district led by senior lawyers, Naseer Ahmed Lodhi and Ms Shahida Shakoor Memon observed token hunger strike outside the DBA office. The lawyers also continued boycott of court proceedings.
MIRPURKHAS: Members of the DBA including Mohammad Hanif Arain, Naeemuddin Kaimkhani and Syed Aftab Ahmed Shah continued token hunger strike in the premises of district and sessions court Mirpurkhas. They said that their protest will continue till the reinstatement of the chief justice.
