GUJRANWALA, March 26: A potion prepared by a quack proved fatal for a stomach patient while the drug maker himself fell unconscious when he too took a dose. It was reported on Monday that a self-proclaimed hakim, Riasat Ali, doing `business’ on Naushehra Road here prepared a drug claiming to treat some stomach ailment.

The quack gave the `medicine’ to a patient, Muhammad Ramzan, and being sure of its healing power, also took it himself.

After taking the potion, the condition of the patient started deteriorating while the quack fell unconscious.

Later, Ramzan died while being rushed to the hospital. The condition of Riasat, who was admitted to the DHQ hospital, was stated to be serious.

Police were investigating the matter.
