HYDERABAD, March 26: The Tandojam police have arrested six activists of the Jeay Sindh Students Federation after they staged a sit-in on Hyderabad-Mirpurkhas road to protest against registration of an FIR against them on the complaint of the Sindh Agriculture University administration.

The police said that the case was lodged vide crime no 32/07 on the complaint of Gul Hassan Leghari, a watchman of the university. Those booked are Ghulam Qasim alias Suriah Sindhi, the general secretary of the JSSF, Habib Bhutto, the Hyderabad district president, Aslam, Ahmed, Sheeraz Bhatti, Ghulam Mustafa Beg, Aftab Waggan, Faqeer Yaseen Memon, Ahmed Khan Sheikh, Sono Lashari, Allah Dino Parhiar, Abdul Waheed, Narejo and Javed Shaikh.

The watchman said that the accused had tried to occupy a university plot off Mirpurkhas-Hyderabad road and tried to raise a boundary wall around the plot.

Following registration of the FIR, the JSSF activists blocked the Hyderabad-Mirpurkhas road for more than one hour. The police arrested six of them -- Habib Bhutto, Ahmed, Sheeraz Bhatti, Faqeer Yaseen Memon, Sono Lashari and Javed Sheikh.

However, according to the JSSF general secretary, 65 activists were arrested. He said that the plot was owned by Habib Bhutto and he had required documents.

He said that if arrested workers were not released, they would launch protest across Sindh.
