Islamia, Jamia Millia triumph

KARACHI, March 25: Islamia Club and Jamia Millia School claimed the men’s and women’s team events titles in the Amroha Club ranking table tennis tournament at their premises on Saturday.

Islamia Club routed Sharfabad Club 3-0 to annex the men’s crown while Jamia Millia School whipped Islamia Club 3-1 to seize women’s title.

Results of finals:

Men’s team event: Islamia Club bt Sharfabad Club 3-0 (Hassan Haider bt Naveed Nazar 11-5, 11-5, 11-8; Yousuf Habib bt Atta Abbas 8-11, 12-10, 11-5, 11-4; Hassan/Yousuf bt Atta Abbas/Naveed 14-12, 9-11, 9-11, 11-4, 11-8).

Women’s team event: Jamia Millia School bt Islamia Club 3-1 (Maliha Khursheed bt Quratul Ain 11-8, 11-4, 11-8; Anum Saeed lost to Urooj Ahsan 9-11, 3-11, 8-11; Maliha/Anum bt Quratul Ain/Urooj 11-3, 11-7, 11-8; Maliha Khursheed bt Urooj Ahsan 11-7, 11-7, 11-4).

Girls’ U-18: Ayesha Khan bt Maliha Khursheed 11-7, 9-11, 11-3, 6-11, 11-7.

Boys’ U-15: Fayyaz Sohail bt Haq Nawaz 6-11, 11-6, 9-11, 11-5, 13-11.

Girls’ U-15: Maliha Khursheed bt Anum Saeed 11-5, 11-8, 11-3.

Girls’ U-12: Iqra Saeed bt Rabha Akhtar 11-4, 11-6, 11-5.

Boys’ U-12: Tabish Khursheed bt Aahil Nadir 11-3, 11-8, 12-10.
