LAHORE, March 25: A high-level meeting was held on Sunday under the chairmanship of the capital city police officer, Malik Iqbal, to review the security arrangement. The meeting was attended by the operations police chief and all divisional SPs. The meeting was held in the wake of a crackdown on active leaders and activists of the opposition parties ahead of the ARD’s protest call for today.

The crackdown which started on Sunday evening was continuing till the filing of the report to keep `troublemakers’ away from protest rallies, officials told Dawn.

The police confirmed the arrest of 138 PPP and PML-N office-bearers and workers. Sources however said the number of arrests was over 200.
