Double success for Abdul Rehman

KARACHI, March 24: Upcoming Abdul Rehman enjoyed double success in the Sindh ranking tennis tournament at the CDGK Sports Complex on Saturday.

Appearing in the men’s singles he got the better of Asadullah 6-1, 6-3 and then whipped Ali Zubair 6-0, 6-0 to enter the juniors’ under-17 quarter-finals.

Talented Nameer Shamsi also had a smooth 6-1, 6-0 sailing over Shayan Nadeem to propel in the boys’ under-13 singles next round.

Top seed Nomi Qamar who got a first round bye, also had a 6-0, 6-0 short work of Hussain Jisani to forge ahead in the men’s singles event.

Men’s singles (second round): Nomi Qamar bt Hussain Jisani 6-0, 6-0; Abdul Rehman bt Asadullah 6-1, 6-3; Zuhair Raza bt Ibrahim Tawwab 6-2, 6-0; S. Abbas Raza bt Ahad Hasan Khan 6-0, 6-3; Muneeb Khan w/o Sunny Williams; Vinod Das bt Hasham Khan 6-1, 6-1.

Juniors’ U-17 singles (second round): Konain bt Ashad Chaudhri 6-4, 6-1; Abdul Rehman bt M. Ali Zubair 6-0, 6-0; Hasham Khan bt Ahad Hasan Khan 4-6, 7-5, 6-2; Zuhair Raza w/o Hasan.

Boys’ U-15 singles (first round): Ibrahim Tawwab bt Noman Khan 6-0, 6-1; Ahad Hasan Khan bt Ashad 6-1, 6-1.

Boys’ U-13 singles (second round): Arif Khan bt Uzair A. Qadir 6-4, 6-2; Nameer Shamsi bt Shayan Nadeem 6-1, 6-0.
