Big Show remains on course for another big show

By Anwar Zuberi

KARACHI, March 24: With Derby Trial under her belt, four-year-old bay filly Big Show is tipped to come out with another shining performance by landing The Pakistan Day Cup when the Gymkhana race meeting takes place at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

The second favourite filly was unlucky to lay her hands on Pakistan Derby 2007 earlier this month and settled for third place after being edged out by outsider chestnut colt Gold Krik in Lahore.

Seven horses are to vie for honours barring last minute withdrawal in a test of endurance in a one mile race which is confined to Pakistani horses of four-year and upward.

Her likely challengers are bay mare Makina and bay horse King of Sanghar. The Pakistan Day Cup is sponsored by M. Yasin Malik.

A card of nine races has been drawn for the day. The first race starts at 12:00noon.

Big Show’s stable mate colt Sindh Malook is fancied to stretch his run by claiming the six furlongs supporting event which has a field of 11 runners.

She should be chased by filly Black Girl and chestnut Terrorist for the places.

Having won three races on trot, bay colt, Truf Shot, is again our fancy in the third race and likely to deliver the goods.

He should be followed by bay horse Jack In The Box and colt Can’t Catch Me.

Bay mare Jet Zone and Lady Conqueror have the credentials to emerge victorious in the first two races.

Eight-year-old chestnut mare Sweet Touch is poised to make it two-in-a-row should she land the concluding event.
