Pakistan’s Cup exit unfortunate, says Lara
KINGSTON (Jamaica), March 24: West Indies skipper Brian Lara said on Friday that it was unfortunate for Pakistan to go out from the World Cup.
“It was really unfortunate for Pakistan to go out. I think they panicked in their game against Ireland,” Lara told reporters after his side notched up their third successive win in Group D against Ireland.
“I feel sorry for Pakistan, but Ireland played really well,” Lara stated, adding, “Every game in the World Cup is important and you should not relax.”
The legendary Lara, who developed good rapport and friendship with Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Yousuf and others, said he feel sorry for them.
He said after losing the game against the West Indies, Pakistan were under pressure and their batting could not sustain on a seaming track (in the match against Ireland).
Pakistan definitely were going through a great trauma after the tragic death of their coach Bob Woolmer, who died after his team lost against Ireland.
“They (Pakistan team) must be going through a difficult time and hope they overcome this,” Lara commented. —APP
