13 killed as coach rams into wagon


KHAIRPUR, March 24: Thirteen people, including nine of a family, were killed and two suffered serious injuries in a head- on collision between a passenger coach and a wagon at Shah Hussain bypass on the National Highway late on Friday night.

Reports reaching here said that the accident took place when a Karachi-bound Al-Makkah coach (ND-2295) coming from Rahim Yar Khan rammed into the Nara-bound wagon (LRT-3155).

Mushtaq, Imdad Ali Jaro, 53, Abdul Rehman Jaro, 45, Jamaldin Jaro, 60, Abdul Karim Jaro, 30, Ahmed Khan Jaro, 37, Ali Khan Jaro, 35, and Jumo Khan Jaro, 55, died on the spot whereas Pir Bux, 55, Mohammad Khan, Badal Mallah, 55, Umed Ali, Moulvi Mohammad Saleem Jatoi died in Civil Hospital Khairpur before getting any medical help.

Twelve bodies were taken to Saheb Khan Jaro village of Nara taluka and Moulvi Saleem’s body was sent to Pano Aqil late at night after post-mortem.

The injured Mohammad Usman was moved to Civil Hospital Nawabshah and Mohammad Qabool to Civil Hospital Sukkur on Saturday.—Correspondent
