SAHIWAL, March 24: Three robbers killed a woman and injured her husband seriously on offering resistance here on Friday night.
Reports said Mushtaq Ahmed, his wife Ishrat and an infant were returning to their village Chak 105/18-L by a motorcycle when the robbers intercepted the family, snatched the bike and tried to get ornaments from the woman. On offering resistance, the dacoits shot dead Ishrat, injured her husband and drove away with the two-wheeler.
In another incident, three armed bandits looted the shop of Fatehullah at Chak 52-5L. They made off with a cash of Rs17,000 and three mobile phones.
Police are investigating.
ARRESTED: Police arrested a `fake’ recruiting agent after a raid at Chak 150/9-L on Friday night.
Reports said Haji Muhammad Saleem Ghauri received Rs175,000 from Zaheer Khan of Muhammadpur and Rs80,000 from police constable Sheikh Muhammad Naseem for provision of visas for Saudi Arabia. City police have registered a case.
PROTEST CONTINUES: The district bar association continued their strike and held a protest rally on Saturday against the `suspension’ of chief justice of Pakistan.
They were wearing black armbands, demanding withdrawal of cases registered under anti-terrorism act (ATA) against politicians.
The protest rally was addressed by senior lawyers Tariq Sajjad, Malik Ghulam Husain, Muhammad Amin Chaudhry and others.
