Top seeds qualify for semis

LAHORE, March 23: All seeded players both in the men’s and women’s category cruised into the semi-finals of the 50th national badminton championship at the Iqbal Park Sports Complex on Friday.

In men's singles, defending champion Wajid Ali faced little opposition from Hashir Basheer before registering a straight 21-14,21-19 set win.

In women's singles quarter-finals, national defending champion Asma Butt beat upcoming Sara Khan 21-15,21-11. Uzma Butt stretched to full distance to beat Sara Mohmand 21-14,17-21,21-10. Farzana Ali beat Shahnaz Shah 21-14,21-11.

Ayesha Akram beat Saima Manzoor 21-17,21-11.
