KOHAT, March 23: A policeman shot and fatally wounded a clerk in the Police Training College, Hangu for ‘delaying’ his promotion case on Friday, the deputy inspector-general of Kohat region said. The clerk did not survive but recorded his statement before dying in hospital.

The head-constable, Tajjamal Hussain, who was deputed in the training college, had been awaiting promotion.

According to the deceased, Abdul Waheed, the accused verbally abused him and held him responsible for the delay in his promotion and said that he had deliberately not prepared and forwarded his case. Later, he shot him and escaped.

According to police sources, the accused had obtained a bail before arrest and was trying to strike a compromise with the deceased’s family.
