KARACHI, March 23: Sindh Education Minister Dr Hamida Khuhro said on Friday that serving humanity was an important aspect of Islamic values while in the present era, the scouts movement was its true reflection.

She was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the third Karachi City Scout Campory organised by the Sindh Boys Scouts Association here.

Dr Khuhro said that basically scout was the movement of the new generation and scouts must have a passion to serve the humanity.

She advised the scouts to remain firm in their faith and truth and noted that a single individual effort could change fate of the entire nation. The minister urged them to play a constructive role for the progress of the country. She said steps would be taken for the promotion of scouting in schools of other districts of Sindh.

Speaking on the occasion, EDO Karachi Fakhur Karim said that students should be given better and effective training so that they could prove to be good citizens. She informed that the City Boys Scouts Association had been organising such activities in this regard.

She said the scouting movement had completed its 100 years and this campory was part of the 100-year celebrations.

Later, the education minister visited various camps installed by scouts and announced donation of Rs30,000 for the scouts.

Scouts from Thatta, Jamshoro, Khairpur and Sanghar also took part in the campory.—PPI
