Lawyers observe token strike

LAHORE, March 22: Lawyers in the city and elsewhere in Punjab on Thursday observed a one-hour token strike as part of the ongoing protest against the suspension of the chief justice of Pakistan.

The hunger-strike camps set up at the high court and subordinate courts saw a bit more activity with more and more lawyers joining them. The lawyers wore black armbands and hoisted black flags atop their offices, when they, after around a week of complete strike, appeared in courts.

LHCB: Office-bearers of the high court bar association in a statement condemned the police torture on lawyers in Quetta on Wednesday and expressed solidarity with them. They paid a tribute to those judges and law officers who had tendered resignations in protest. —Staff Reporter
