KARACHI, March 22: The court of District Judge West Arshad Noor Khan sentenced a driver on Thursday to 10-year rigorous imprisonment for killing a motorcyclist and injuring his companion.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs50,000 on Aftar Shah, who would have to undergo an additional one-year term in case of default on the payment.

It was said that the accused Aftaar Shah driving a minibus bearing registration No JA-2590 had hit a motorcycle No KCD-8562 on May 4, 2002 in jurisdiction of Mominabad Police Station, killing Sarwar and injuring Mohammad Akhtar.

The court also asked the accused to pay Rs643,760 to heirs of the victim Mohammad Akhtar.
