KOHAT, March 21: The district council has directed all union nazims to ask graduates, who have been unemployed since 2005, to submit applications to the social welfare department for getting monthly stipend.
The provincial government has announced a stipend of Rs1,000 per month for the unemployed graduates.
A meeting of the district council held on Tuesday was informed that a cattle show would be held in the first week of April.
The meeting decided to conduct an inquiry into a huge gas bill of Rs1.3 million issued to the District Women and Children Hospital. The meeting was informed that the reason behind this huge bill was that staff living in more than 44 quarters had got illegal connections from the single meter of the hospital.
“These residential quarters have no separate meters and the hospital administration has taken no action against the staff using gas free of cost,” it was told.
The meeting decided to recover the dues from the staff as the district government was unable to clear the outstanding bills.
The meeting took serious note of the absence of staff from a school in Mandoori and recommended induction of more teachers into schools.
